Training on the Protection of Human Rights and Environment

The training addresses current and future environmental and natural resource management challenges. The link between human rights and environment is critically explored including environmental issues in social protection and enhanced inclusion in building resilience against climate change variability and shocks. Supporting public sector institutions in environmental policy design and the private sector in implementing robust environmental management systems is at the centre of our training focus.

Understanding of conceptual frameworks and approaches to human rights and environmental management will enhance the capacity of development institutions to better deliver on the twin objective of livelihood enhancement and environmental sustainability.
In-depth techniques and approaches to promote environmental best practices and how to use the existing human rights mechanisms to address environmental damage are discussed. Techniques to strengthen the link between social protection, building resilience against climatic, and other environmental and social shocks are explored and discussed.
The training targets human rights workers, staff of non-governmental organisations, the private sector, national environment and human rights institutions, representatives of international organisations etc.
